Amy Miano, founder and principal care manager of Compass Care Management, brings relevant knowledge, seasoned perspective, empathy and warmth to her work with older adults and adults with disabilities, mental illness, and other medical conditions.
Amy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), a Certified Advanced Social Work Case Manager (C-ASWCM), and a Certified Professional Geriatric Care Manager.She has worked with over one thousand individuals and families in their homes as a medical social worker. Her extensive experience with assessment and care planning for older adults and adults with disabilities enables her to efficiently guide and support her clients. By listening closely to her clients’ preferences and exploring options creatively, Amy helps craft solutions that reflect the values and needs of clients and caregivers.
Amy has gained valuable professional experience working with older adults as well as those with serious mental illness, developmental disabilities, and a wide variety of other medical conditions. She began her career in the Mental Health Division of the Public Defender Service in Washington, DC before joining the Community Health Law Project in Essex County, New Jersey. She was a senior program development specialist for the Union County Department of Human Services. Then, as Director of Adult Services at Hudson ARC (now Hudson Milestones), Amy was responsible for program development and overall operation of eight community residences and two employment training centers for developmentally disabled adults, including the supervision of clinical behavioral support and mental health case management programs.
Amy earned her Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers University School of Social Work in 1988.
As a member of the National Association of Social Workers, the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, and the Guardianship Association of New Jersey, Amy is committed to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.
